<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve monitoring efficiency by estimating a moving direction of a detected person and dismissing detection of a person outside a monitoring target from the moving direction. <P>SOLUTION: A moving direction identification device comprises: a time change extraction unit 2 for dividing each of consecutive images on a time axis into multiple areas and calculating an intensity change within the areas as a state change quantity for each divided area; a movement vector calculation unit 3 for calculating a difference in the calculated state change quantity for each image frame group that consists of multiple consecutive images, calculating a centroid of the calculated difference, comparing a position of the calculated centroid among the consecutive image frame groups and calculating a movement quantity of the centroid as a feature quantity; a person detection unit 4 for determining the presence of a person in a picture; and a moving direction determination unit 5 for determining a moving direction of the person. The moving direction determination unit 5 consists of a cascade strong identifier by AdaBoost, compares the feature quantity stored in a sample storage unit 5a with the calculated feature quantity of each area and determines the moving direction of the person. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
