A method for fabricating a fitting (580) for a composite sandwich shell edge joint comprising the steps of:
providing a bottom die (570) having a cavity therein;
placing an inboard ply stack (560) in said cavity;
positioning a collar tool (550) having a pocket (552) on top of said inboard ply stack (560);
placing a bridge ply stack (540) in said pocket (560) of the collar tool (550);
placing an outboard ply stack (530) on top of said bridge ply stack (540);
positioning a top die (520) on top of said outboard ply stack (530); and
curing said inboard ply stack (560), said bridge ply stack (540) and said outboard ply stack (530) to form said fitting (580).
