The invention comprises the addition salt of caffeine with N-acetyl-tryptophane and its preparation by reacting acetyl-tryptophane with caffeine in approximately equimolecular amounts, preferably by refluxing in a solvent preventing hydrolysis such as an anhydrous aliphatic alcohol, e.g. ethanol. Pharmaceutical preparations having a stimulating action on the central nervous system, comprise the above caffeine N-acetyl-tryptophanate and a therapeutically administrable vehicle, suitably in the form of tablets, pills, suppositories or injectable solutions. |
