A system and method for marksmanship training comprises a screen, a computer having a processor and a memory connected to the processor and adjacent the screen, a set of modified video images stored in the memory, a set of projectors for projecting the set of modified video images onto the screen, connected to the computer and adjacent the screen, the set of modified video images including a moving clay target image and a phantom clay target image adjacent the moving clay target image at a lead distance from the moving clay target image, a camera connected to the computer and adjacent the screen, a weapon adjacent the screen, and a laser operatively mounted in the weapon. The phantom clay target image has a contrast level range from a fully opaque image to a fully transparent image. |

1. A system for marksmanship training comprising:
a computer further comprising a processor and a memory connected to the processor; a set of projectors connected to the computer; a first camera connected to the computer; a second camera further comprising a view, connected to the computer; a set of light beam emitting devices in the view of the second camera; the processor programmed to carry out the steps of:
receiving a shot sequence;receiving a background video;measuring a set of target flight data from the shot sequence;extrapolating a path for a phantom from the set of target flight data;determining a lead distance from the set of target flight data;determining a drop distance from the set of target flight data;adding a hotspot, a halo, and the phantom to the shot sequence, along the path, at a predetermined set of contrast levels, at the lead distance, at the drop distance, to create a set of modified shot sequences;sending each modified shot sequence of the set of modified shot sequences to the set of projectors in a predetermined order related to the predetermined set of contrast levels;directing each modified shot sequence of the set of modified shot sequences as a video source to the set of projectors;recording a shot attempt for each modified shot sequence of the set of modified shot sequences to create a set of shot attempts;determining a selection of the hotspot by the set of light beam emitting devices;if the hotspot is selected, then switching the video source to the background video;determining a halo overlap between the halo and a shot string position received by the first camera; and,if the halo overlap is at least a halo overlap percentage, then switching the video source to the background video. |
