<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nickel oxide fine powder having a low content of impurities such as sulfur and a fine particle size, and suitable as an electronic component material, and an industrially stable method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: An aqueous nickel sulfate solution is neutralized with an alkali and the resulting nickel hydroxide is converted to nickel oxide by heat treatment at a temperature of 500-1,000°C. The obtained nickel oxide is slurried, crushed with a wet jet mill and washed at the same time. The resulting nickel oxide fine powder has a sulfur content of ≤400 mass ppm, a sodium content of ≤10 mass ppm and a specific surface area of ≥3 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
