1. An apparatus for providing tactile feedback, comprising:
an actuator, wherein the actuator is capable of generating a vibration pattern based on received time varying data, the time-varying data being associated with a visual representation segmented into a plurality of portions each having at least one haptic property; a plurality of fibers on the actuator; and a membrane on the plurality of fibers, wherein the plurality of fibers extend vertically from a surface and are arranged on the surface in a side-by-side configuration; wherein a haptic property of a first portion of the plurality of portions comprises a first texture and a haptic property of a second portion of the plurality of portions comprises a second texture that is different from the first texture; and wherein the vibration pattern generated by the actuator varies based at least on differences between the haptic properties of each of the first and second portions.
