METHOD FOR CLASSIFYING CHILDREN AND ADULT BT USING HEAD AND BODY HEIGHT IN IMAGES

The present invention relates to a method to distinguish an adult and a child by using a ratio between a head height and a height in an image, capable of detecting a pedestrian area and a head area from an image and then calculating a ratio of the areas to determine whether the image is an adult or not depending on whether the ratio is lower than a predetermined threshold value or not. The method to distinguish an adult and a child includes: a step of detecting a pedestrian area from an image; a step of detecting a head area from the detected pedestrian; a step of determining a ratio between the height of the head area and the height of the pedestrian area; and a step of determining an adult if the ratio is not higher than a predetermined threshold value, and determining a child if the ratio is higher than the threshold value.
