<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a metal nanowire capable of easily obtaining a single metal nanowire. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the metal nanowire includes making a metal salt react in the existence of a reducing agent, a polarity polymer, and a compound shown by a following formula (1). In the formula (1), X<SP POS="POST">-</SP>shows the halide ion.
