The device (100) has a sample insertion section for inserting sample into a gas chromatograph, where the sample is pyrolyzed in a sample tube (102) and mixed with carrier gas e.g. argon. A high frequency coil (103) inductively heats a pyrofilm (101) in the sample tube, which is inserted into a cylindrical cavity of the high frequency coil. The high frequency coil is arranged along a carrier gas path.
