The purpose of the present invention is to provide a joining structure, and a joining method, for which it is not necessary to provide a special structure for alignment such as an edge part when overlapping and welding two long members, and that enables defective welds to be reduced and yield to be improved. In the present invention, an outer surface (7a) of a lower lateral-plate part (7) on one side of a U-shaped cross-section lower plate member (5) is caused to be adjacent to or come into contact with an inner surface (13a) of an upper lateral-plate part (13) on the other side of a U-shaped cross-section upper plate member (10) so as to configure an overlapping state, and an inner surface (8a) of a lower lateral-plate part (8) on the other side is caused to be adjacent to or approach an outer surface (12a) of an upper lateral-plate part (12) on one side so as to configure an overlapping state. Next, an assembly state is configured in which an alignment pin (15) is inserted through a first insertion hole (9) formed in a lower base-plate part (6) of the lower plate member, and a tip part (18) of the alignment pin (15) is inserted into a second insertion hole (14) formed in an upper base-plate part (11) of the upper plate member. The outer surface of the lower lateral-plate part on one side and an end surface of the upper lateral-plate part on the other side are welded, and the outer surface of the upper lateral-plate part on one side and an end surface of a first lateral-plate part on the other side are welded. |
