<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cut a glass plate by fusion without generating a defective shape at the cutting section of the glass plate. <P>SOLUTION: A glass plate cutting device is provided which irradiates a cutting section C of a glass substrate G with a laser beam LB while jetting assist gases to the cutting section C, and fuses and divides the glass substrate G into a product part Ga and a non-product part Gb along the cutting section C as a boundary.
