PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate an unknown parameter of a transmission system at a higher speed.SOLUTION: A transmission system parameter estimation apparatus includes an output estimation section, an error calculation section, a correlation calculation section, a space projection section and an updating section. The output estimation section computes an estimated output signal y^(n) from an input signal vector X(n) and an estimated parameter vector H^(n). The error calculation section computes an error signal e(n) that is a difference between an output signal y(n) and the estimated output signal y^(n). The correlation calculation section computes a correlation g^(n) from a correlation g^(n-1) and projection coefficients α, &bgr;at the preceding time. The space projection section uses the correlation g^(n) and the estimated parameter vector H^(n) to calculate projection coefficients α, &bgr;, and computes a projection vector &Dgr;H^(n). The updating section computes an estimated parameter vector H^(n+1) from the estimated parameter vector H^(n) and the projection vector &Dgr;H^(n). |
