The present invention relates to a permanent magnet type synchronous motor which adds a transverse air gap in a longitudinal air gap while minimizing volume increase and the material costs of the motor, so as to increase the amount of magnetic flux. According to the present invention, the permanent magnet type synchronous motor comprises: a tubular stator, a rotor, and a pair of housing end caps. The stator forms a rotor installation hole in the center part, and forms an armature winding in a plurality of teeth formed along an inner surface. The rotor is installed in the rotor installation hole of the stator, forms a longitudinal air gap between the stator, and has a plurality of permanent magnets embedded with a magnetic flux concentration type. And the pair of the housing end caps which close both sides of the stator, have an armature core for a plurality of longitudinal air gaps for forming a rotor and a transverse air gap in the center part, wherein one side of the longitudinal air gaps is in contact with the teeth.
