Provided are a base station and a communication control method whereby a mobile station can be caused to transition to a DRX (intermittent reception) state even if a timing advance is periodically transmitted to the mobile station so as to prevent a radio resource, which has been individually allocated to the mobile station, from being released. A base station (100) comprises: a transmitted/received data detecting unit that detects the presence of transmitted/received data at a mobile station (200A); a timer control unit that, if the transmitted/received data detecting unit detects no presence of transmitted/received data, activates a traffic inactivity timer to measure a time for which no transmitted/received data is present at the mobile station (200A); and a TA transmission control unit that halts the periodic transmission of a timing advance if the measured time of the traffic inactivity timer activated by the timer control unit reaches a predetermined threshold value. |
