<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a hydrogenation catalyst, in which the hydrogenation catalyst with a more excellent desulfurization activity is manufactured more conveniently and industrially. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the hydrogenation catalyst includes: a first process in which at least one or more active metal components chosen from the periodic table group 6 and the group 8 to group 10 are supported on a carrier to obtain an active metal carrier; a second process in which the active metal carrier is impregnated with a chelating agent-containing aqueous solution including a chelating agent and moisture to obtain an impregnated carrier; a third process in which the impregnated carrier is aged at 80 to 150°C while keeping the liquid amount[mass%] of the chelating agent-containing aqueous solution contained, as calculated by the following Formula (1):ä(W2-W1)/W1}×100, at ≥50% to obtain an aging carrier; and a fourth process in which the aging carrier is dried at ≤300°C.
