PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric washing machine which suppresses voltage applied on both ends of a smoothing capacitor provided in DC power source forming means, and which can adopt a smoothing capacitor in which rated voltage is low.SOLUTION: An electric washing machine includes: a DC brushless motor 6a for rotationally driving a washing tub; a DC power source generation circuit 18 for a main circuit for generating DC power source for a main circuit which is supplied to the motor 6a; a DC power source voltage monitoring circuit 19 for monitoring a DC voltage value on an output side of the DC power source generation circuit for a main circuit; an inverter circuit 17 for controlling the power supply to the motor; and a microcomputer 20 for performing driving control and brake control of the motor via the inverter circuit. The microcomputer 20 performs setting of a limit voltage threshold value Vs according to a voltage value for a commercial power source preceding the brake control of the motor 6a, and performs brake control of the DC brushless motor 6a so that the DC voltage value detected by the DC power source voltage monitoring circuit 19 does not exceed the limit voltage threshold Vs which was set beforehand. |
