Disclosed are a communications terminal for a vehicle and a method for setting communications configuration of the communications terminal for a vehicle. According to the present invention, the communications terminal for a vehicle comprises: a second converting unit for receiving and decoding encoded detail traffic information from an on-board equipment for receiving traffic information from a road-side equipment (RSE) and extracting detail traffic information for the traffic information; a communications control unit for receiving the decoded detail traffic information from the second converting unit and setting a communications configuration to correspond to the detail traffic information referring to a data storage unit; and a second communications unit for communicating with the communications configuration set in the communications control unit.
