The present invention relates to a mobile terminal which can secure and hide predetermined contents by a fingerprint input received from a user, and relates to a method for controlling the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to a mobile terminal, which comprises: a memory to store a plurality of contents; a fingerprint recognition sensor to receive at least one fingerprint input; a touch screen; and a control unit controlling the touch screen to output a contents list with respect to the stored contents, and hiding at least one contents list outputted between a first contents list and a second contents list on the contents list by receiving a first fingerprint input and a first touch gesture input which selects the first contents list and the second contents list of the contents list.
