The method involves providing a circulation pump (5), an air-brine heat exchanger (3), an evaporator (6) and a heating element (8) in a brine circuit (4). Ambient air temperature is detected by a temperature sensor (1). The air-brine heat exchanger is provided with a blower (7) for conveying ambient air through the heat exchanger. The blower is switched-off and the heating element is switched-on during shortfall of preset temperature. The heating element is alternatively switched-on and switched-off.
