In the present invention, disclosed is a method for generating compensation data of a liquid crystal display device. The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for generating compensation data to realize a high quality image of a slim type liquid crystal display device which simplifies an optical member to reduce the thickness. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an effect of generating more accurate compensation data can be achieved by removing distortion by properties of a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera used in a detection process, and the structural properties of the liquid crystal display device. The method for generating compensation data of a liquid crystal display device comprises the following steps: obtaining image information by photographing a liquid crystal display device; preprocessing the image information; correcting a brightness distortion component included in the preprocessed image information; generating a target profile based on the corrected image information; and measuring compensation data based on the target profile.
