PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging device and a control method therefor capable of easily retrieving and enjoying a photographic image even when it is imaged by a foreign user.SOLUTION: An imaging device includes: an imaging unit 2 for performing photoelectric conversion of an optical image and outputting image data; a feature quantity digitization unit 5a for using the image data to digitize the feature quantity of the image and calculating feature information; a recording unit 3 for recording the feature information by associating it with the image data; and a liquid crystal display unit 8 for displaying the image based on the image data together with a similar image retrieved by using the feature information. When instructions for an imaging operation are provided by an operation unit 9, the image data outputted from the imaging unit 2 and the feature information calculated by the feature quantity digitization unit 5a are associated with the image data and recorded in the recording unit 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
