PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that exhibits small warpage of a liquid crystal panel and small display irregularity even after being placed in a wet heat environment.SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a liquid crystal cell having two cell substrates and a liquid crystal layer sandwiched therebetween; a front-side polarizing plate laminated on a viewing side of the liquid crystal cell through an adhesive layer; a rear-side polarizing plate laminated on a side opposite to the viewing side of the liquid crystal cell through an adhesive layer; and a backlight unit disposed outside the rear-side polarizing plate. The front-side polarizing plate and the rear-side polarizing plate each include a polarizing film and transparent protective films disposed on either side of the polarizing film. Both of the front-side polarizing plate including the adhesive layer and the rear-side polarizing plate including the adhesive layer have a water evaporation rate of less than 5 g/mhr.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
