The method involves switching a detection diode according to the operation of a laser (12) for reducing the backscattered radiation applied to overlapped portions of a laser path (32) and a field of view (40) of a camera (16). The detection diode is switched between a period of fixed observation and a period of display by using a switching circuit, where the camera includes multiple elements presented in the form of a focal plane array. An independent claim is also included for a detection device comprising a camera.
