A power transmitter comprises a large and a small cylinder 11, 12 substantially parallel to each other, means 13, 14 for interconnecting the cylinders at each end thereof, a piston 15, 16 in each cylinder, and means 17 for simultaneously moving the pistons in opposite directions to create a fluid pressure in one end of the transmitter depending on the directions in which the pistons are moved. The cylinders are interconnected by chambers 13, 14 and are provided with bearings for shafts carrying sprockets 18, 18<SP>1</SP>. The means 17 for moving the pistons consists of a chain 17 which is connected to opposite sides of both pistons so that when one of the shafts is rotated by a prime mover, the pistons move in opposite directions and the fluid pressure in chamber 13 or 14, depending on which direction the pistons move, is transmitted through a pipe 20 or 21 to a receiver which may be similar to the transmitter. The fluid on the system may be compressible or incompressible.
