A roller (1) for a variable chamber round baler includes an axle (23) configured to be mounted to a mounting element (3, 4) of the baler, a rotary bearing (5) mounted on the axle, and a roller casing (1a) supported by the bearing for rotation around the axle. The roller (1) includes a first seal plate (6) adjacent an end of the roller casing that is mounted in a fixed position relative to the axle and extends radially outwards towards the roller casing, and a second seal plate (8) located between the first seal plate (6) and the bearing (5) that is mounted for rotation with the roller casing (1a) and extends radially inwards towards the axle (23). The second seal plate (8) is located axially inwards from the first seal plate (6) to provide a space (9) between the first and second seal plates, and the first seal plate (6) includes an opening (10) in a lower portion thereof through which waste crop material can escape outwards from the space (9) between the first and second seal plates (6, 8). |
