A hard material which, when used as the material of a sintered body, allows obtaining a sintered body with excellent wear resistance, a sintered body, a cutting tool using said sintered body, a manufacturing method of the hard material and a manufacturing method of the sintered body are provided. The hard material includes at least one element selected from the group consisting of aluminum, nitrogen, titanium, chromium and silicon, and has a cubic rock salt-type structure.
