It is an object of the present invention to provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which inhibits the oxidative decomposition of an electrolytic solution in a high-temperature environment and has markedly improved high-temperature storage characteristics and cycle characteristics. The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery of the present invention includes a positive electrode plate containing a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode plate containing a negative electrode active material, and a nonaqueous electrolyte, in which the positive electrode active material is a lithium transition metal complex oxide, at least one selected from rare-earth hydroxide and rare-earth oxyhydroxide is present on a surface of the positive electrode active material, and the nonaqueous electrolyte contains a fluoroarene. |
