Disclosed are a refresh control method and apparatus for a display device. The method comprises: (201) a display controller periodically generates a first refresh signal, outputs an image frame for display that is stored in a frame buffer to a display panel, and generates a period of the first refresh signal, the period being shorter than the duration of distortion that pixels of the display panel have due to current leakage; and (202) when the display controller determines that the image frame for display that is stored in the frame buffer changes, the display controller generates a second refresh signal and outputs the image frame for display that is stored in the frame buffer to the display panel. The frequency of generating the second refresh signal is far lower than the frequency required for guaranteeing in-time display of the image frame. Besides, a refresh operation of the image frame is triggered by an event, so that in-time display of the image frame is guaranteed, unnecessary refresh operations can be reduced, and system resource consumption and memory consumption can be reduced. |
