Aspects and embodiments relate to a wireless communication network control node method, a wireless communication network control node and computer program product operable to perform that method. The wireless communication network control node method comprises: receiving an indication that a user equipment operating within the network intends to make a direct transmission to at least one other user equipment in the network; determining resource to be allocated to the user equipment for the direct transmission; and transmitting an indication of the resource to be allocated to the at least one other user equipment in the network. It will be appreciated that aspects and embodiments may provide a method to optimize user equipment power consumption when operating in a device-to-device communication mode. The methods described may provide a means to improve device power consumption, whether that device is operating in single or multiple D2D spectrum regions. |
