The present invention relates to a selective process for extracting metals from a raw mineral, which comprises: treating the raw mineral with a dominant microwave magnetic field, or an H-field, in an open-ended single-mode applicator; and separating the products obtained. The process allows continuous operation. To carry out the process, the invention defines a device for processing raw mineral, comprising: a chamber (1) for confining microwaves and selecting H-field mode, E-field mode or alternating E- and H-field mode, according to the complex dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability properties of the raw mineral; transporting means (7, 8, 9) for transporting by removing the particles of the raw mineral through the chamber; application means for generating a microwave electromagnetic field inside the chamber; and tuning means (4) for tuning and adapting the frequency of the electromagnetic mode. |
