Provided in the present invention is a composition for preventing, treating or mitigating periodontal diseases, comprising an extract of Sigesbeckia glabrescens Makino as an active component. The composition comprising the extract of Sigesbeckia glabrescens Makino as an active component of the present invention induces diffraction of periodontal cells, increases mineralization of bones, regenerates alveolar bones, and promotes anti-inflammation and anti-bacterial effects, thereby being effective to treatment and prevention of periodontal diseases.
