In a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a positive electrode containing a positive electrode active material, a negative electrode containing a negative electrode active material, a nonaqueous electrolyte containing a lithium salt in a nonaqueous solvent, and a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, an inorganic particle layer is disposed between the positive electrode and the separator, and the nonaqueous solvent contains a chain fluorinated carboxylate ester represented by the formula CH3-XFX—CH2—COO—CH3 (where, x is an integer of 1 to 3) in an amount of 15% by volume or more based on the total amount of the nonaqueous solvent.

1. A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprising:
a positive electrode containing a positive electrode active material; a negative electrode containing a negative electrode active material; a nonaqueous electrolyte of a nonaqueous solvent mainly composed of a fluorine-based solvent and containing a lithium salt; and a separator disposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, wherein an inorganic particle layer is disposed between the positive electrode and the separator; the nonaqueous solvent contains a chain fluorinated carboxylate ester represented by Formula (1) in an amount of 15% by volume or more based on the total amount of the nonaqueous solvent,
CH3-XFX—CH2—COO—CH3  (1)where, x is an integer of 1 to 3; and
the nonaqueous solvent further contains 4-fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC).
