A fuel cell system that includes fuel cells that receive supplied anode gas and cathode gas, and generate power in accordance with a load, and a battery that is charged by power from the fuel cells and discharges power to the load. The fuel cell system also includes: a transformer that is connected between the fuel cells and the battery, and that converts the voltage of the fuel cells and/or the battery and supplies power from the fuel cells to the battery; and auxiliary devices that are connected between the battery and the transformer, and assist the operation of the fuel cells. The fuel cell system also includes: a power generation control unit that controls the amount of operation of the auxiliary devices on the basis of the load on the fuel cells; a system control unit that controls the amount of operation of at least a portion of the auxiliary devices in accordance with the operating status of the fuel cell system; and a restriction unit that, on the basis of the temperature of the transformer, restricts the amount of operation of the auxiliary devices controlled by the system control unit. |
