The invention relates to a method for operating a vehicle, having the following steps: - ascertaining a respective force fit of the vehicle wheels, - ascertaining which of the force fits of the vehicle wheels is the strongest per vehicle axle, - ascertaining which of the respective strongest force fits per axle is the weakest force fit, and - controlling a pre-pressure generating device dependent on the ascertained weakest force fit of the respective strongest force fits per axle such that - the pre-pressure generating device regulates a brake pressure in a single-channel brake circuit for the vehicle wheels dependent on the ascertained weakest force fit such that - the vehicle is slowed according to the regulated brake pressure.
