The present invention relates to a flame detection method based on a color image using flame temperature distribution characteristics, including: a) receiving an image of a candidate area of flames preestablished and taken by a security camera; b) verifying whether there is a change at a predetermined interval in the received image in order to analyze the temporal change in the image; c) analyzing, when there is a change at the predetermined interval in the image, the flame temperature distribution characteristics according to flame colors; d) measuring, when the flame temperature distribution characteristics are completely analyzed, the change in the shape of the flames according to the flame temperature distribution; e) analyzing the change in the shape of the flames according to the flame temperature distribution based on the measured data; and f) determining whether there exists any flame based on the analysis results of the change in the shape of the flames according to the flame temperature distribution. When applied to fire detection systems, etc., the present invention is capable of exactly detecting, in an early phase, whether there is a fire outbreak by dividing the candidate area of the flames, analyzing the shape change characteristics of the flames according to the temperature distribution over time in the divided area and finally determining, based on the analysis results, whether there exists any flame, using the flame temperature distribution characteristics. |
