An electrode of lanthanum hexaboride is prepared from powder of a range of particle size corresponding to screens of from 40 to 325 meshes to the inch, by cold compacting to a cylinder at 50 tons per sq. inch., and sintering in an electric vacuum furnace at between 1,300 DEG and 1,800 DEG C., the product of the lower temperature being thereafter machinable. |
