In a semi-conductor device including a semi-conductor body and a carrier body, a zinc-cadmium alloy is used to solder two parts together. The Figure shows a silicon body 1 having a gold-antimony alloyed electrode 2 and an alloyed aluminium electrode 3. Two terminal plates 4, 5 which may consist of tungsten, molybdenum or tantalum are connected to the electrodes 2 and 3. Copper-plate 6 is hardsoldered to plate 5 and a copper housing part 9 is soldered to plate 6 by a layer 8 consisting of a zinc-cadmium alloy, preferably the zinccadmium eutectic. A protective coating 10 is applied to stabilize the PN junction region, the coating preferably consisting of polysiloxanes or mixtures of polysiloxanes and terephthalic ester resins, if desired with the addition of an electro-positively active substance such as alizarin as described in Specification 935,459. |
