A bearing lubrication device for use with a piece of rotating equipment. The lubrication device comprising a bearing chamber 10 with bearings 4 located therein and an atrium adjacent the bearings. The device further comprises: a mist generating unit 7 positioned below the bearing chamber and in fluid communication with the atrium; at least one mist inlet 11 directed into the bearing chamber and being in fluid communication with the mist generation unit; and a coalescing unit 6 adjacent the atrium. The lubrication device may be a substantially closed loop system and the mist inlet can be external to the bearings and directed towards the bearing chamber. The system can be considered a gravity-fed arrangement as this removes the need for an additional air flow to create suction to draw the oil up a conduit, thereby reducing the pressure in the bearing housing. |
