The system has a magnetic field detecting device comprising a fixed magnetic sensor (5) including an electronic circuit that delivers two analog signals (SIN1, COS1) of same amplitude in quadrate based on signals from a set of sub-assemblies. A signal processing unit comprises a calculator for determining a signal from the signals and an operator for determining a phase shift between a magnetic field viewed by the fixed magnetic sensor and another magnetic field viewed by another fixed magnetic sensor (6) according to the signal determined by the calculator. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring an axial movement of a movable piece in rotation around an axis with respect to a fixed reference.
