<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the resolution of an image displayed by an image display apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: An image display apparatus of the present invention includes a polarization conversion element which selectively converts polarization of incident light to first polarization or second polarization, a polarization separation element which transmits light of the first polarization emitted from the polarization conversion element and reflects light of the second polarization, a first light modulation element which the light of the first polarization transmitted by the polarization separation element is incident upon, and a second light modulation element which the light of the second polarization reflected by the polarization separation element is incident upon. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
