A wearable motion monitoring device is provided for monitoring a user's motion state. The motion monitoring device comprises a monitoring unit, an alert unit, a display unit, and a wireless communication unit. When the motion monitoring device detects that the users motion state has not varied or has varied less than a predetermined value within a predetermined period, an alert signal is generated by the alert unit to remind the user, and the display unit displays data for recognising the users identity and state of health. It the alert signal is not acknowledged within a predetermined period, a distress signal is sent to specific and/or nonspecific persons. A heart rate sensor may be provided in the monitoring device in order to determine whether the monitoring device is being worn by a user. The motion monitoring device may further comprise a GPS unit for determining the position of the monitoring device. |
