940,047. Guiding cables on drums. F. L. LEBUS, and F. L. LEBUS Jun., [trading as LEBUS ROYALTY CO.]. Sept. 26, 1961 [Oct. 6, 1960], No. 34454/61. Heading B8B. A sheave 38, Fig. 1, for guiding cable 12 on to a winch drum 18 is slidable endwise along a shaft 24 to follow the fleeting movements of the cable, the shaft 24 being pivotally mounted in trunnions 48, 50 on an axis which is non- coplanar with the axis of the shaft 24 so that the sheave 38 takes up the required fleeting angle. The shaft 24 is cranked at the ends to form radial arms 30, 32 which are preferably radially disposed at an angle less than 180 degrees so that the centre portion 28 of the shaft is to one side of the pivotal line of the trunnion portions 34, 36. The pivotal movement may be limited by stops 58, Fig. 15 (not shown) arranged on the trunnions 48, 50. In a modification the trunnions may be mounted on arms 60, Fig. 10, pivoted at 62 to permit the shaft 24 to move vertically. |
