[Also in Division B8] A laminated wrapping 1, Fig. 1, of alternate layers of metal foil 2 and of heat-insulation fibrous sheeting 3, e.g. glass fibre, wound round the cylindrical body 5 of a liquefied gas storage container is provided along its edge adjacent a domed end 6 of the container with triangular tongues 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>11</SP> of length equal to half the perimeter of the contour of the axial section of the domed end and of such width and apex angle that the tongues become juxtaposed when bent over the domed end. The two layers are supplied by spools 9, 10, Fig. 2, which feed over guide rollers 11, 12 and 14 and through a tongue-cutting machine 13 to the container 5 which is rotated about journals 8 only one of which is shown. Idler rollers 15 ... 19 serve to bend the tongues 17, 17<SP>1</SP>, 17<SP>11</SP> down to the container end 6. The so-wrapped container is encased in an outer casing. |
