PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a method for controlling the mode conversion of the same are provided to improve security with respect to information related to an application by restricting the implementation of the application if mode conversion is inactivated under the desired situation of the mode conversion. CONSTITUTION: An operating system implements modes including a first mode and a second mode. A controlling part(180) detects signals for mode conversion under the activated state of the first mode and controls the conversion of the first mode into the second mode. Unless the first mode is converted into the second mode, the implementation of a specific application, which is implementable in the first mode, is restricted. A displaying part(151) displays user interface for implementing voice-based communication and text-based communication under the activated state of the specific mode according to the controlling of the controlling part.
