<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize black level correction for high-quality image read. <P>SOLUTION: This image reader comprises illumination means 200 for illuminating an original, and photoelectric conversion means 202 for receiving reflected light from the original and outputting electric signals. The image reader further includes: black level read means 224 for reading a reference black level when the photoelectric conversion means 202 is dark; white level generation means 232 for reading signals corresponding to reflected light from a white reference member in a period other than an image read period and generating a reference white level; temperature estimation means 234 for estimating a reference temperature that affects an output level depending on a position of a main scanning direction from the reference white level; black level correction means 226 for correcting the reference black level corresponding to the position of the main scanning direction using the reference temperature; and black correction processing means 220 for removing black level offsets of signals using the reference black level corrected corresponding to the position of the main scanning direction in the image read period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
