In a ball joint having a cover 2 which is fixed in position by a rolling or other deforming operation performed on the socket, a non- resilient malleable insert 9 is provided between two rigid portions of the ball or socket and is deformed when the socket is subjected to the said operation so that the rigid portions move towards each other to hold the ball in position movably but without play. The insert may be made of plastic material or a soft metal such as lead or copper. |
