An artificial heart valve assembly comprises an attachment ring and an artificial heart valve defining an aperture for blood flow, the artificial heart valve being held in engagement with the attachment ring so as to provide a sealed periphery between the heart valve and the attachment ring around the aperture. The attachment ring comprises an annular base portion, wherein the attachment ring is configured to be sewn to a passageway within a human or animal subject by looping a length of suture around at least a portion of the base portion. |
