<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the frequency of executing freeze operation during a special game, according to a mode when a special symbol combination is won, and to give a profit to a player accordingly, in a slot machine that performs freeze operation. <P>SOLUTION: The slot machine includes: a freeze control means for controlling freeze operation; a mode transition control means for controlling transition between freeze control modes; and a freeze condition selection means for selecting a freeze condition. The mode transition control means shifts the freeze execution mode according to predetermined conditions under a normal game, and continues the freeze execution mode for a special symbol combination during the special game until the special game is completed. The freeze condition selection means selects a freeze condition according to the freeze execution mode for a special symbol combination. The freeze control means executes freeze operation at a frequency corresponding to the freeze execution mode during the normal game and the special game, and executes freeze operation for the freeze condition selected by the freeze condition selection means when the special symbol combination is won.
