<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bacteriostatic agent containing an acidic substance substituting for alum and having an expansive mechanism without containing alum. <P>SOLUTION: The bacteriostatic agent having an expansive mechanism without containing alum contains coated acetate made by coating powdered acetic acid with hydrogenated oil and fat, and a gas-generating base.
