A subsea wellhead assembly 1 comprises: a subsea wellhead 2; a template 6 associated with the wellhead; subsea riser system equipment 4, eg a blowout preventer (BOP) or Christmas tree, connected to the wellhead 2 and one or more connection members L. The subsea riser system equipment 4 is connected to the template 6 by the one or more connection members L so that lateral support is provided to the subsea riser system equipment 4 from the template. The template 6 may provide protection from trawling. The connections members may be rods or bars in compression, or wires, ropes, tethers or chains in tension; the connection member may be a steel frame. Each connecting member L may include a tensioner 12, eg a chain jack, screw jack, winch or windlass. Connecting wires may feature force sensors. The template 6 may be operable by an ROV. A method of installing the subsea wellhead assembly is also provided. |
